• Develop significant reports like America's Forgotten Orphans, 

• Advocate for meaningful policy changes, like bereavement leave, 

• Advance the science of bereavement and bring experts to your doorstep, and

• Protect the rights of bereaved consumers, like when they need to purchase a funeral, 

• Create awareness among societal leaders to change systems that support all families, and 

• Create resources for bereaved individuals, like our national Grief Directory. 

To achieve this mission, we work across health, social, and economic issues that are central to preserving the rights, dignity, and solvency of all bereaved individuals. This means we stand up to power – political or financial – when it seeks to marginalize, diminish, or take advantage of bereft people, particularly during life’s most challenging moments. We stand firm in this mission, even when it requires us to take an inconvenient or unpopular point of view.
